Fitness Regiments To Suit Your Goal, Budget

At the start of every year, people normally vow to become a tad sexier compared to the past year. But as the days pass by, most of them fail to keep their resolution to lose weight due to lack of commitment.

The determination to shed that extra pound is one of the most common resolutions among Filipinos. Today, working out does not necessarily mean spending big bucks. More than ever, an individual must stick to his exercise routine as well as his budget.

If you want to lose weight, but you have no money to spend in gyms, you may join aerobic workouts being held for free in parks such as in Luneta, Marikina Riverbanks and Quezon City Memorial Circle.

For beginners, especially the elderly, however, Edith Angeles, aerobics instructor, warned against overdoing your exercise routine.

“Kailangan hinay-hinay lang sa mga routine. Go at your own pace ika nga. At para tumuluy-tuloy sa pag-exercise, kailangan talaga ang disiplina sa sarili,” Angeles said.

Jogging is another form of exercise that will help improve your health sans the cost. Running coach Rio dela Cruz also stressed the importance of patience and discipline when you are engaged in this type of exercise.

“Mas magandang tumakbo sila either sa grass, sa track and field, or sa aspalto. Kung sa kalyeng semento lang sila tatakbo, makakasama pa ‘yon sa mga tuhod nila. At choose the right shoes for their feet, hindi kasi pare-pareho ang mga paa. Kailangan ‘yong running shoes na gamay sa inyo,” he advised.

For those who are willing to spend, look for gyms that offer aerobics and kickboxing classes. Membership fee is normally from P500 to P2,500 a month.

If you want to trim your waistline, Osim’s uRobic, an exercise machine, is for you. All you have to do is sit on the machine as you twist and turn your body in the opposite direction to the uRobic's movement, according to the Osim Web site.

The exercise machine costs P30,000.

“Kahit mahal po siya, makikita naman nila ‘yong results na gumagana talaga siya sa health ninyo kaya nagiging worth it din ‘yong investment na ‘yon,” said Rey Breva, Osim’s sales consultant.
